What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the Ancient Chinese practice of using fine needles on specific points of the body to clear blocked channels of energy. This allows the body to return to a state of balance, a place where healing can take place.  Many aches and pains disappear in the following hours, days and weeks.  Acupuncture promotes the balance necessary for good health.

Acupuncture has been practiced in China for over 3,500 years. The Chinese see the body as having two opposite but complementary forces - Yin (negative) and Yang (positive). When these two forces are balanced, then the body's energy, Chi, flows freely along routes known as meridians. Imbalance blocks the Chi and causes ill health ( Dis-ease, Dis-order). When the acupuncturist places the fine needle in the appropriate point of the meridian, it taps into the body's natural energy flow and rebalances the Yin and Yang to bring back harmony and promotes the restoration of good health.

By restoring the balanced flow of ones Qi/Chi pronounced (Chee) one can see how acupuncture could be beneficial in the treatment of many different Health Dis-orders.  Acupuncture helps to get the body mind and spirit into a state/place of being  a place where healing at all levels can begin and continue.

Its a great tool for treating pain of all causes and locations from headaches to Injury to Musculo skeletal pain, Lower back pain.  Period pain is a great responder to Acupuncture.  Women are not meant to suffer painful periods.  If you do.  Something is wrong!

For those who feel generally unwell or suffer from persistent low level anxiety this too is a result of an imbalance for which Acupuncture may provide valuable relief.  The following url takes you to the World Health Organizations lists with respect to the conditions for which Acupuncture has been proven effective and worth considering.  http://apps.who.int/medicinedocs/en/d/Js4926e/5.html
